For sale here is a complete set of piston rings, suitable for 3.5 engines produced pre 1976. We have standard bore and 20 thou oversize available, please ensure that you select the correct rings for your engine from the drop down menu above. If your engine is post 1976 the piston rings listed here will not be suitable as the top rings are 0.5mm (roughly 0.012") thicker on a pre-76 engine.

Pre-1976 piston rings are thicker than those on the post 1976 engines, and so are not interchangeable. The top ring on pre 76 rings is 2mm thick, compared to the 1.5mm thick on the post 76 engines (0.078" and 0.060" respectively).
The second ring is always directional, and the 1st ring is sometimes directional. Our advise is to keep the packaging and instructions as these will give the information required to orientate the piston rings correctly.
Always measure piston ring gaps and make adjustments if necessary. Piston ring gap is as follows:
1st ring: 17 to 22 thou
2nd ring: 17 to 22 thou
Oil ring: 14 to 50 thou.
