For sale here we have the ultimate in Rover V8 engines, without question. This is an RPi fully rebuilt Rover V8, however it's no ordinary Rover engine. This is a 4.6 liter, Stage 4 "Merlin" engine with a triple throttle body set up and carbon fiber inlet plenum. Sold here as a turn key engine, this uses the GEMS/Sagem engine management system and will be supplied with everything needed to get you up and running including ECU, engine wiring harness, injection and ignition systems meaning it's ready to drop in, plumb up, plug in and turn the key.

The engine here can be configured to suit a huge range of vehicles from Range Rovers, Defenders, TVRs or kit cars; just let us know what you're building and we'll do the rest. This engine will of course also be built to our rigourous testing and build standards meaning you can be sure of the best quality and excellent longevity regardless of the application. This means you're getting a block which has been hot pressure tested across all 8 cylinders to ensure it's not cracked, and with our correct ECU chipping and ignition upgrades it's far less likely that it will ever crack.

  • Fitted with Stage 4 Merlin cylinder heads - machined, tested and assembled in house at RPi - the ultimate Rover V8 cylinder head
  • Carbon fiber triple throttle body and inlet plenum
  • Front timing cover fitted with new oil pump gears
  • Anciliaries cleaned thoroughly, tested and painted where appropriate
  • Built by Holly, who has been the only builder of RPi Rover V8 engines for over 25 years

  • This engine is supplied in stand-alone GEMS form, as found in P38 Range Rovers 1994-1999, some Morgan +8 models, defender 90 NAS spec and 50th anniversary and more
  • As all our engines are built to order by Holly, our engine builder of 25+ years experience, please note that there is a 2 week+ build time on this engine due to the time required to produce and test the Merlin cylinder heads.
  • RPi engines are known globally for excellent torque, reliability and longevity
