Helpful information
Be careful with the silicon! We have seen excess silicon sealant kill an engine, especially when too much is used on the sump. Excess silicon sealant gets into the sump, and drawn into the oil pickup tube. It then blocks the oil strainer, starving the engine of oil. For these cork sump gaskets, we simply use a small layer of blue hylomar on both sides of the gasket
Do not over-tighten the bolts on the sump, as this will distort the gasket and cause an oil weep. It can also distort the sump itself to the point it will never seal properly again.
The head gaskets we supply are composite, as we have found these give the best long term reliability, and being thicker than tin gaskets allows more tolerance for minor imperfections in the sealing surfaces
