Included in this listing is a complete engine gasket set for your Rover V8 engine with a V belt front end. This can be identified by the belt configuration, which on a V-belt front end is multiple narrow belts around the ancillaries. If you were to cut into the belt, the cross section would be a v-shape, rather than the multi-rib belt found on serpentine, GEMS and Thor front ends. If you are unsure, you are always welcome to email us a photo of your engine for identification (firstname.lastname@example.org). When we say full engine gasket set, we mean it, the listing here is for a kit containing every gasket and seal in your V8 engine to keep the oil, water and air where they should be.
Included in this kit
Cork sump gasket
Oil Pickup tube gasket
Front and Rear Crank Seals
Oil pump base gasket
Front cover gasket
Water Pump gasket -

Composite intake manifold/valley gasket & rubber end seals

Pair rocker cover gaskets
8x Exhaust manifold gaskets
Be careful with the silicon! We have seen excess silicon sealant kill an engine, especially when applied to the sump. Excess silicon sealant gets squeezed into the sump, and drawn into the oil pickup tube. It then blocks the oil strainer, starving the engine of oil.
On a similar note, do not over-tighten the bolts on the sump. This distorts the cork gasket, and is a common cause of Rover V8's "marking their territory" with oil. When fitting in our workshop, we apply a thin smear of blue Hylomar to either side of the gasket, and "nip up" the bolts.
The head gaskets we supply are composite, as we have found these give the best long term reliability and being thicker than tin gaskets allows more tolerance for minor imperfections in the sealing surfaces
Details of which sealants we apply and where are available from RPi.
