Here we have the essential Tornado ECU chip for the GEMS fuel injection system used on the Rover V8 engine in P38 Range Rovers 1994 - 1999, and some NAS Discovery 1 4.0L. Don't however make the mistake of thinking that this is a horsepower chip like so many others; this is a correction chip aimed at righting the wrongs of the standard Rover fuel and ignition maps, in turn improving the drivability, smoothness, efficiency and reliability of your engine. These is a plug-and-play part using some basic tools (namely a T20 torx screwdriver) and knowledge, with full fitting instructions provided. Alternatively a fitting service is available, please enquire for more details. Please note a security re-learn will be required after fitting these chips to the ECU, this can be performed with Testbook, Nanocom, and other Rover specific diagnostic equipment. For Morgan vehicles and Defender 90 50th Anniversary, we recommend fitting an unlocked ECU due to an inherent wiring fault in the alarm system on these causing issues with the immobiliser in the GEMS ECU, meaning the security re-learn often fails.When ordering, please inform us of the details of your engine vehicle and any upgrades you have added to ensure the ECU chips are programmed correctly for your application.

- We recommend upgrading your ignition with Magnecor plug leads, available through our shop
- As with any upgrade, the biggest gains come from an engine which is in good condition. An ECU chip can't fix a worn camshaft
- This is not a horsepower chip - it's to correct the fuelling and ignition timing of your Rover V8 engine
- Essential if any upgrades have been applied to your engine - the GEMS ECU as standard resists allowing extra fuelling if you have added any upgrades to your vehicle.
